Enrichment Prizes

pier-to-pier wlak, health week

Take part in enrichment at Bede for the chance to win prizes throughout the year.

As well as a range of prizes for individual activities, every term there will be a prize draw which you will be automatically entered into if you have taken part in a set amount of hours of enrichment. Ask your tutor for details.

Journalists Wanted

Budding journalists can get ahead of the game by writing an article for the Bede Read about college life.

If you have been on a trip, taken part in an enrichment activity or event or have a burning issue to discuss, we’d love to hear your views. Just email your story to rachel.jeffery@citysun.ac.uk

Looks great on the CV and you could win a prize. Prizes will be given for the best article of the term and each article counts towards an hour of enrichment time for the prize draw.

Summer Term Enrichment Prizes

The Bede Read prize was won by Jade Simpson and Rachael Cook for their article on the Race for Life (see below).

The enrichment prize draw was won by Lewis Underwood, who regularly took part in golf (participating in 8 hours over the term) and also attended a careers fair at Bede.

A choice of ‘experience day’ prizes was offered and students opted for go-karting. They undertook 55 physically gruelling laps at Top Gear Karting in Durham, with hairpin bends and some ruthless undertaking. It was a close race but the girls came through with Cooky claiming the top spot and Jade in second place. Watch out Schumacher!

NEWS TEAM ASSEMBLE!

Dedicated news team needed for the Bede Read.

Editors, design team, journalists etc. We will meet around once a month to select and edit articles, plan future content and finalise the design. See enrichment website for full schedule.

See Rachel Jeffery if interested.

Race for Life

On Sunday 6th May, we took part in the race for life 2009 at Herrington Park. 47 members of staff and students took part in the event which aims to raise money for cancer research.

The event was organised by sports tutor Mel Brewis who provided all participants with a specially made pink Bede t-shirt as well as balloons and hats.

The race was great fun and staff & students enjoyed a well deserved carvery and beverage at the Barnes pub afterwards!

On behalf of all who took part we would like to thank Mel for organising the event and we look forward to next years.
